What people are arguing is that the plane doesn't need the wheels to fly.... so it's not like putting a car on a dyno....

a plane moves forward via the propellers/turbine engines, not wheels.

there's basically to schools of thought on this

1. The conveyor would put sufficient drag on the plane to counteract it's thrust thus it remains stationary.

2. The conveyor will just make the wheels spin faster and the plane will move forward thus taking off.

everyone realizes you need air speed to create lift

It needs some contact with the ground in order to get the airspeed to take off. It can't just hover in the air and magically take off...then it'd be a UFO o:

but if the jet engine moves the plane forward & the conveyor belt moves it backward at the same rate as it moves forward, then there is effectively ZERO movement & no movement = no air movement over the wings = no lift = no liftoff

i can't understand why this fact elludes people

because this isn't a walgreens world....

much like a feather and a rock can fall at the same rate...

a plane can take off on a conveyor belt if brett wants it to.... h:
and in all honestly... I don't really care too much... I just want to fuel shit
