Computer Krew v.Playing .DAT Files???

Here's the deal. I have some footage from our security camera dvr at work that I saved from the dvr program. It is saved as a .DAT file, but cannot be played in WMP or Media Player Classic. Do I need a codec to play this? I really need to be able to play these files.

usually DAT is VCD format (mpeg 1)

download Gspot

it should tell you what it is.

I downloaded that Gspot prog, and it cannot open the file...says it's being used by another process. However, the DVR/Security cam software is closed.

Ideas?
