Default remote desktop question

ive got this toshiba laptop that cannot remote into 1 particular machine if i connect using the computer name. it does connect if i use the ip and it connects fine to other machines using computer names

the laptop is not joined to the domain and i am trying to connect using RSA and vpn (so this laptop can be used for work from home)

any thoughts?

If they are not in the same workgroup, it will not find it. Since you are doing RSA you can get to any computer but only through the IP address, which is why it can find it through the ip address.

If you can, try creating a terminal to another machine(Preferably your laptop), from the pc you cannot get to with the name.

yea... but youre not physically plugged in. youre vpn isnt supporting name resolution through it to the main network.
