Default XBOX Live Question

I just purchased a 360 Elite the other day and I have a question. I don't have an ethernet cable long enough to reach my wireless modem. My question is....although it might be a stupid one...could I hook my 360 up to my laptop and use my wireless connection to get my 360 online?

Any help would be appreciated.

1) Go to network places
2) Click Setup home or small office network
3) Select next
4) Select the first option "This computer connects directly to the internet...."
5) Select your internet connection
6) and click next till you're finished

Don't you need to use a X-over cable for that? I was doing that for a while until I got a pair of 10mbs ethernet over powerline adapters

don't you need a crossover ethernet cable instead of a straight-through ethernet cable?

weird I was under the impression when using the internet/linking 2 computers thru 1 you needed a X-over cable. I have 1 from my OG xbox days, worked for me that way...never tried it with a normal cable h:
