My brother and I are moving into an apartment...began moving in yesterday. We did all the paperwork to get the apartment on Sunday, got approved Monday....supposed to sign the lease Wednesday. In order to sign the lease, you need a PG&E account number for power. They own a bunch of other apartment complexes in the bay, and use a website/company called Whitefence. It's a website where you can hook up all your utilities in one place, instead of having to call everyone individually, and get special pricing...great idea, only it doesn't work.

I had to call PG&E and set up the account myself, because 2 days after I submitted the order, I had no account still.

I had also submitted my Comcast order on Wednesday morning, and still had not seen a confirmation from them. The install appt was supposed to be for tomorrow afternoon. I called Whitefence, and they seemed to just brush it off on the provider, saying that it's the holidays and probably just too busy. Fuck that. I called Comcast myself, got the same pricing specials, and an appointment for tomorrow. They had not even received a request yet.

Don't ever use Whitefence to hook up the utilities in your new pad.

I had almost the exact opposite with regards to the leasing agent. When I moved into the current place the leasing agent who I worked with was very nice, but thoroughly unattractive. She wouldn't stop hitting on me. I started taking a different, longer route on my way to the gym so that I could avoid going through the main lobby and she wouldn't hit on me.
