So as i opened my beer i see this thing on the side of the mouth hole. does anyone know what it is?

My guess would be that it puts incoming air to the side, preventing foaming up of the beer from the hole you drink from?

Edit: lets pressure out, not air in

Yeah.... looks like the aluminum can equivalent of a pressure release.
Helps bring the guzzle.

Revision of theory.

It's for when you crack it open. All the CO2 needs a place to go, giving it a channel reduces foam at the mouth of the can....

Also a good point. Like stabbing the can with a knife... but to a lesser extent.

Revision of theory:

It's to help the can open. By having that little lip at the top circled part, it helps "peel" the can open.

you turn the opener to the right, and it lifts it up so you can open the can easier. you kids just start drinking beer?
