Default Keg Krew

Looking into making a kegorater out of a small fridge, as i live near a collage campus and they are cheap when students move out.

But it looks like most of them will only be able to hold a pony (1/4 barrel). Anyone know if it is just crappy domestic beer, or if you can find most beer in the pony keg?

If i can only get Miller and Crapwater, i won't bother.

Well, I am going to buy one off a college student when they get out of school. So just a dorm size fridge. I'm going to check around town and see tomorrow.

Maybe I'l check craigslist and see if anyone wants to get rid of a full size fridge.

most of the time places only keep the crappy beer in stock period ... but you can order just about anything that is available to a bar on tap .. at least in MI that is.

Craigslist usually has an abundance of full size fridges for under $100, and often under $50 or $30. I'd wait around for one that'll take a 1/2 bbl rather than jumping on a mini-fridge. 1/4 bbls just don't last long enough.

Most minifridge-sized ones will take a half barrel, C02 tank + regulator all inside.

ours does. It really looks like it won't fit, but it fits perfectly in there.

Looks like it would need to be about 17" by 30" to get a full keg. What kind of fridge do you have Scott?

It looks like the CO2 doesn't need to fit inside, it can go on the outside with a line going in...

shit... i dunno. I do know that it was premade. But, the fridge section is actually a minifridge. You could totally DIY one on the cheap (many tutorials online), but this one was bought used at approximatley the same price to make one. it was a good f'n deal.

Also - about the quarter barrels: there were be a plethora of cheap ass crap quarter barrels. however, alot of microbrews do quarter barrels, and more normally 5 gallon skinny kegs.

Good luck in your search.

Is there any way to use an air compressor in place of the CO2? I've drank out of several keg's with the "hand pump's", but only a handful of Kegerators.
