honorable mentions.
Ninja Gaiden 3 - NES
Double Dragon - NES
Adventures of Bayou Billy
Kid Icarus
Mega Man 3 was beyond slick though. The 2nd controller cheats made the game so much fun.

The first-person boxing was unique in 1987 (actually, how often have you seen it since?), unless you count the arcade version of the same game. It was genuinely fun trying to crack the various exotic underlings that stood between you and the champ. And, after a tough day, there was something deeply satisfying about mercilessly pounding upon hapless Glass Joe, who always seemed to be in the ring against his will.
Look at him, it's like he thinks there's a guy out in the audience with a rifle on him.

most of those games are impossible without cheat codes. I remember ikari warriors, me and a friend would get to the end with cheat codes and right when we're at the end the game would always freeze up. I don't think anyone was ever meant to beat the game and the programers did that on purpose so it would be unbeatable. I loved flying the helicopters in that game, but your vehicle would only last a minute before it blew up.
