Something that I need to rant about
Okay, so I have a nephew who is 18. My brother married a woman who already had a son, so he's not blood. However, this weekend I learned from my sister-in-law that my nephew's girlfriend is pregnant with his child. It's pretty much an unexpected pregnancy. She doesn't want to abort so he's SOL. Anyway, he is still acting responsible about it, which greatly surprises me.
That aside, I am now starting to set money aside each paycheck to give to him in April when the baby is due. Now, me and him hardly, hardly, hardly ever talk to each other, but I feel as a responsible adult that I am watching out for family even if they aren't biological. I hope to save up at least $600 for him when the time comes, then cut him the check to try and offset those initial household costs. However, mind you, that he still lives with my brother and probably will for a while until he figures out what he wants to do (he's thinking Coast Guard, but I warned him that Coast Guard won't ship out until 2009).
Thoughts?

Believe me when I say that this money I'm setting aside could be better spent on my tab at the bars; however, I very rarely do nice gestures, so I guess I'm trying to make up for the missed ones...........
I'm trying to get $1000 together for my niece's first birthday as a donation to her college fund. But then I realize that her parents are filthy stinking rich (at least compared to me). Maybe more like $250, we'll see.

Yea... make sure that shit doesnt go to nights out and booze... and actually towards something your niece can use.
