Well duh. If I had a race car garage in a race car climate and in a state with race car curves I would have bought a race car. Unfortunately this is Michigan and I pretty much live like a Gypsy. A better comparison would be an E36 M3.

why all the M5 hate?

the ITR isnt all that fast of a car, but its the absolute pinacle of front drive lightweight great handling imports

the e28 M5 is the same for me, its not the fastest car, but it is a fantastic handling rwd sedan that was at the forefront of the entire BMW M car era

Truth. If you want one get one, I'm sure it'd be a fun car. $8k is buying a whole lot of fun. My buddy has an E30 325i with a shitload of M3 parts that he autocrosses and drifts...holy hell what a blast it is, and I think he's only paid like $5k total including the car.
