Cream, Big Brother & the Holding Co. & hendrix were some of my favorites when I was on a classic kick. I think Zep 4 will always remain my favorite classic album though. Santana-Santana ('69) is a great one too.

Oh I read your list but I guess I missed something

I assume if he is half serious he would just DL entire discographies so he can get a better feel for the band rather than just basing off of one "hit" album from them

Thats how I do it and why I tend to be pretty harsh when discussing bands as a whole because many of "the greats" really had some shitty albums most overlook for that "one" album.

you said no one said black sabbath but i did the albums i put up are pretty much there best albums of the groups on my list.

Oh ok I see what you did there h:

I disagree on your Van Halen selection though I would put their self titled album and Diver Down as some of their best and most lasting work with 1984 as a solid runner up.

No no no no if you are going to get Jimi Hendrix skip his commercial crap and find "Live at the LA Coliseum" as well as the rest of his blues bootlegs and minor releases. They are far better than what he laid down for the radio market...far far better.
