Default death by cell phone

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7117014.stm

Authorities in South Korea are investigating the death of a man amid reports he may have been killed by an exploding mobile phone battery.

He was found at his workplace with a melted battery in his shirt pocket and punctured lungs and heart.

Phone maker LG said the cell would have been rigorously tested and was only sold in Korea but it could not comment further because of the police probe.

I read an article about the exploding batteries before. Apparently, it happens a lot more with those signal booster things installed.

Li-ion batteries in cell phones don't explode like what most people are used to when the word explode is used.

They vent. In some cases they may vent rapidly but it will still take about 5-10seconds before it vents completely. There is potentially enough energy to harm someone when it vents all the energy in less than 1 second but that is highly unlikely. From looking at the phone it looks like a typical rapid venting that can occur sometimes. If the battery did actually "explode" you'd see fragments of the phone not a melted intact phone.
