my blackberry does email much better than my treo, especially work email. with wireless sync directly from my company's blackberry server, i dont need to run software on my desktop that pushes emails to the phone. same goes for the outlook calendar.
for personal email, i was never impressed with versamail. rather than getting emails dynamically, it had to ping each email server at preset intervals (mine was set to get new messages every 10 minutes).
there's some minor stuff about the treo that irked me, like the inability to use MP3 ringtones without 3rd party software. the OS feels ancient (it probably is) too.
some of the things i love about my blackberry are GPS (great with telenav service or google maps) and integration with yahoo messenger. there's a few free IM programs for the treo, but they dont work as well as the "official" software.
2) Battery life: Had to have a charger in every quadrant; ie, one at my desk at work. One at home. One in my car. One to take with me when I am away from home. Battery life SUCKED.
3) As Rich mentioned, having to have to have 3rd party (GoodLink) for corporate e-mail. Unstable and unreliable.
4) Random reseting.
5) Personal email (versa mail) sucked balls.
6) Internet browsing was slow.
Reasons 1-4 are the most important to me. At my company, we have over 30 Treo users with the same complaints. I've had the 650 and 700, both were the same.
What I did like was the txt-messaging system. The touch-screen was a nice touch as well.
The Blackberry is by far the best PDA-type phone I've seen.
