XBOX 360 Arcade released
now this is how i want to buy it ... guess i am getting one this week for surehttp://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/23/xb...today-for-279/
It's about time! Microsoft finally announced the Xbox 360 Arcade (the replacement for the Core) will go on sale October 23 -- that's today, folks -- for $280. Even after being found in the wild and unboxed, Microsoft still refused to acknowledge the console's existence until this past Sunday. The console comes with a 256MB Memory Unit, a wireless controller, HDMI port, and a disc that includes five full Xbox Live Arcadegames: Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship, and Uno. Despite the unit having an HDMI port, it only comes with standard-def composite cables (the red, white and yellow one), instead of the high-def component/composite hybrid cables bundled with its big brothers.
If you can run HDMI, you're set.
If you can run HDMI, but need to break the audio signal, you'll need the optical / RCA adapter. ($50) - Included w. Elite.
If you need the component cables, you need to get those. (+$40) - Included w. Elite & Premium
You will need some sort of a HDD. (20GB - $100, 120GB - $180) - 20GB w. Premium, 120GB w. Elite
If you wanted to get on Xbox live, you need a mic. (wireless - $50, messenger kit w. wired - $30) - Included w. Elite & Premium
I'd pass on this. Head to Best Buy ... grab the Premium "Go Pro" kit.
$349 gets you
system w. HDMI
component cables
wireless controller
wired headset
20GB HDD
Forza 2 and Marvel's Ultimate Alliance
1 month of Xbox Live

and i have to buy a hdmi - vga adapter anyways cuz i use my pc as my tv in my room and yea ... you see that reason
Don't do it, you need the HDD. The face value savings of $70 isn't worth it.
This thing can't stay a Guitar Hero adapter forever. If you wanted new tracks, you need to store them somewhere.
