Default Headunit help puhlease... do I need a key?

Simple question.

I am taking the headunit and MAYBE the speakers out of my old Civic and putting it into my new older Civic. It has a detachable faceplate and I was wondering since I didnt do the install and dont have the box or anything, do I need a special key or do I just remove the 3 tiny screws and then unhook and all that shit?

It's a Pioneer DEH-P3600 is that helps any. I looked in the manual and it doesn't mention install anywhere.

Thanks cacs!

A key for a Pioneer head unit? No. If anything, you'd need the sliders that go along the side to get the unit away from the metal enclosure.

Good unit, btw h:

Thanks for the advice. So does that mean if I dont have the sliders it might be a bitch to just pull out?

Most aftermarket HUs don't require keys. Stock ones do and have it on a sticker on the back(At least mine did, which makes no sense)

It very well could be. The sleeve that the unit is sitting in has metal tabs that are poking outward to prohibit the sleeve to come out. If you don't get the unit to slide out, you won't be able to bend the tabs down to allow the sleeve to come out freely.

Those "sliders" are called keys

It depends ALL on the installation. The most basic installation will require the use of the keys to separate the unit from the cage that is latched onto the car. More complicated installations will require removal of other things.

You cant take my headunit out just by using the keys.

Not like taking the dash out takes long anyway h:

First I would use the keys...if you dont have them, use anything flat and slip it in the slit :naughty:
