hmm, i havent messed with this stuff since i got my v3c 2 years ago, but it was a bitch to get it to work correctly then i can remember

i would uninstall everything then download the bvrp drivertool and install that
download an older version of mpt, newer than 3.28 and not 3.11 or 3.4i, then live update that to 4.04 and no farther

that is how i had to do things for my v3c anyway, and it worked great once setup correctly, until the laptop crashed and i lost all the software

maybe try a profile for a v3c or a v3m, those should work ok for contact and ringtone stuff

i know for me i could only use a certain usb port, and i had to unplug and reset the drivers every once in a while

It was a pain to get it to work in the beginning on my old computer...trying to find the right drivers. It was simple on this one, and worked since I got the computer until last week. I just don't understand why it won't open even with the device unplugged.

have you installed anything at all lately?
home pc or laptop?

did you uninstall or install over the top of the old one?

most of my issues were always from swapping drivers between mpt, charging, seem editing, etc...

if you havent done anything that would cause that, then im not sure what the issue is

maybe install again and not update at all?

Haven't installed anything. Uninstalled original before reinstalling.

Is it possible my key ran out/was invalidated?

oh shit you need a key now?
haha its been a while

im not sure how the updateing works with the key, so i would research that some and see how it looks

i would try
uninstall
reinstall
do not update at all, in fact disable your internet connection or make sure mpt isnt allowed onto the internet at all
try out mpt a few times, restart comp and make sure it still works

if that doesnt work my only other suggestion is to find an older copy and update to 4.04 only, its new enough to work fine, but not new enough to screw you with validation crap

besides that i cant help much, check howardforums, im sure they have the answer, its just a bitch to search and find it
its like han though, ask an informed question and be polite and you may get a good response, its hit and miss, i had to build my cred there and it took a while, but that was 2 years ago and i stopped posting long ago

It doesn't ask for a key. But I think I remember something on my old version saying something like they key was compromised. It didn't ask for a key when I installed the new one, or reinstalled the old one.

MPT always sucked for me :dunno:

At this point I'd probably be looking at the phone as the source of the problem
