Default Stupid Shedding

My house is always covered in dog fur. I have two pitbull mixes and they are both mostly white so my house is constantly covered in short white fur. I vacuum all the time and a few hours later you can already see it collecting. So after doing a thorough job cleaning I decided to take them outside and brush them really well so they don't shed all over the house again (friends coming this weekend). I brushed them each for about 20 minutes and guess what...they were still shedding

After 20 minutes of brushing the hair still falls to the ground and collects in the brush just as fast as when I started. I may go give them each a bath and then brush them again.

Do you think it's possible to get ALL the lose fur out so they wont shed for at least a day or two? Or am I wasting my time?

I know how you feel, STARR! sheds like crazy, I can brush her and take out by brushing 10 handfuls of hair and still more comes out. Her hair is long and white. It comes out in tufts, like horses that shed in the late spring and early summer.
