The over-tanned, tweezed-eyebrow, Gotti-hair look is pretty ethnically ambiguous. Thus what appear to be some sort of white kid, some sort of south asian kid, and some sort of southeast asian kid, all look basically the same.

Everyone gets to look like the same flamboyant new money first generation immigrant of their dreams.

Maybe that's why it's popular with people of a certain mindset.
