Default S2k Im working on at work

Guy brought this S2k in and said the motor wont turn over. and this is what i found when i tore it down.

(sorry for the crappy pics they were taking from my cell phone)

What i plan on doing is if he ends up getting a new motor, I will take this block and do the 2.4 conversion on it. (k24 crank and OEM H22 rods and pistons)

Ouch. So assuming you take this block, what do you plan on putting it in?

Let me guess, the valve retainers failed? It's not the first time i've read about this. After an over rev *unless it's major* the motor may actually drive fine. The damage has already been done however. The retainers are stretched and will crack and fail down the road. No way to tell when, it's a ticking time bomb. The guy that over revved the car could go and sell it and a thousand or ten thousand miles down the road the new owner gets the tab. The AP2 retainers aren't as susceptible to this phenomenon.
