I worked at Best Buy in the Computer department. I liked it. The pay was ok, the discount was good and the job was really easy. There is no "one" department that is better then others. It just depends on if you like your coworkers or not. Plus you can always start in one department and if you don't like it switch.

I can honestly say I like my job. There are/we're people I didn't like to work with, but the job itself isn't bad at all. I've worked in Car-Fi, HT, and I'm now going back to Car-Fi full time. You can't beat a $129.99 cable for $12

thats not always true. most of the times if you are full time in lets say department A and you dont really like that department and you want to go to department C but they dont have a full time position open your screwed. if you are part time it makes it easier to do so.

part timers at BBY get shitted on SO BAD! trust me i know.
you are not guaranteed 32 hours so if you are relying on BBY to pay the bills and you are part time. i wouldnt really consider it.

luckily im part time but get a steady 32-40 hours a week. but that could stop and there would be nothing i could do about it. if your full time they have to guarantee you 32 hours a week, holiday pay, benefits.

I applied for the merchandiser position because that's what I use to do at tower. I still haven't heard from apple so I got to move on. What's the discount we use to get 5% above cost

That's not the way it was at my best buy. If you wanted to switch departments they could normally get you a spot within a month (especially if you were part time). Best Buy is such a big place there are always people coming and going so if you want to switch you normally don't have to wait long. I also had the opposite problem with hours. I was part time and told them I didn't want more then 30 hours a week (because I was a student) and they kept giving me 38 hours. Ultimately I just told them if they gave me over 30 hours I would choose which days I worked on the schedule. I would just show up when I wanted and work 30 hours a week. They didn't seem to care cause they knew it was their fault.
