I thought about it as well but I didn't feel like cutting my dash along with leaving it out in the open considering I park outside 99% of the time.

If it's audio clarity and output you're worried about, then Alpine, Eclipse and Pioneer double dins are all good brands. All of them have good filters and 5V pre-outs.

If it's navigation, then stick with Eclipse. Pioneer's logic is bunk. As an example, if you get lost or stray off track, Pioneer takes FOREVER to reroute. Eclipse is almost instantaneous. I'm very impressed with Eclipse. Haven't played too much with Alpine, but from what I remember it was similar to Pioneer.

If it's options, then it really depends. Are you looking at hard drive space, iPod connections, blue tooth, etc? Can't speak for Alpine, but Eclipse impresses me more than the Pioneer. iPod connection is not user friendly at all. Even though you can control your playlists, the scrolling takes forever. Eclipse was much faster. Supposedly Pioneer is working on that feature, but I'm not sure if the new models have it. Just look out for it. Phone connection for blue tooth were equal in my experience.
