lost a pet today
just got an email from my mom, she just had one of our horsies put down. he was gettin on in age and he couldn't keep weight on and they just found a issue with his heart. with winter coming he most likely would have died of cold / hunger. so they made the decision to put him down rather than let him suffer.
never can get over the fact it costs over a $1000 to put a horse down ...
for an old fart he was pretty cool though

large animals especially. the vet has to come to our house since a horse isnt exactly something you can move around once its dead very easily. and with our vet being 40 miles away (there are closer ones, but shes the best we know) that adds to the cost.
you have to put them down right where you want to bury them ... its usually the easiest. last time we had to put one down its because wolves cornered her and got her caught up in the fence cutting her all up ... we had a neighbor bring a bulldozer to take care of digging the hole / burying her. (don't tell the man but MI has 4 less wolves after that incident
h
we could always just use a rifle to the head, and if we didnt have my lil sisters we prolly would, but its hard enough on people without ya blowing a hole in the head.

I wouldn't be able to shoot one.
