Default Rockbox v.Rant

I own a 5g ipod. A while ago I tried putting Rockbox on because I wanted to see if I liked it. It was very buggy and would take a long time sometimes to turn off or on. So I deleted the Rockbox folder(Followed the 'uninstallation' file) and everything was dandy. All of a sudden today my ipod randomly turned off and when I turned it back on I got this error:
Rockbox boot loader
Version:1.1
IPOD version: 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK3008GAL
Partition 1: 0x0B 28537 MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found
Hold MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode
So I tried rebooting, same thing, tried going into disk mode but that was completely worthless.
I plugged my ipod into my computer at work to see if I left any rockbox files, but I couldn't find any.

Anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to just wipe it clean because I would have to redo all my settings, figure out what songs I have on, and I would lose my game settings.

Hmm.. I put rockbox back on. When trying to load back into the ipod filesystem it takes a long time.

As I said, I don't want to.
Same reason why I don't want to reformat my desktop. Too much backing up to do.

I think I should have bought that 400 gb external for 50 shipped I saw a few days ago for backups.

Lesson learned?
What are you talking about? I said I didn't reformat so I wouldn't have to figure out what songs are on there. I didn't lose anything...
