Default haven't kept up on tires

What are good street/occational autocross tires these days? I haven't paid attention to tires in probably 3 years, so I assume there are probably different ones out there now. Since I don't drive the civic autox car anymore, I thought I'd start racing the g20 for shits and giggles.

Something along the lines of kumho mx or azenis or something...

Falken Azenis RT-615 is awesome tire for track, but a bit heavy. Sucky in rain though. Toyo T1R is pretty good for occasional track and full time street.

I got the new Nitto INVO on order, we'll see how that fair up against the T1R.

i just got some Nitto Neo Gen for $99/each. Going to Laguna Seca in two weeks. So far they are much more quiet than the Kumho 712's and seems more responsive. That could be from the tires being brand new.

it needs work and I'm too lazy/cheap h:

What it all boils down to is that I can only afford to insure 2 cars. The truck is infinitely useful, and the g20 is required for work. I feel like crap now, thanks.

rt-615 good for autox not as good for track. heats up too fast and feels greasy but not as much as the old 215

t1-r not so good for autox because of the super soft shoulders (wears out very quickly) but much better for track, very predictable and decent wear.

btw for occasional autox just run whatever you have. no need to spend extra money when you wont even see the difference in time.

dood, you just edited my post :eh:

I'm getting new tires anyway to re-gear, hence my desire not to run my current tires (which are 195/65/15 all-season balloons, btw).

oops h:

my advice still stands. you'll also learn a lot more on shitty tires then on grippy tires.

I've friends that ran RT615 on the track and they held up pretty good. This was on the short tracks with a lot of braking and turns, on 20 mines sessions, with little break time in between. To me, they're pretty good. I haven't ran the 215 before so I can't really compare, but for track, I kinda like them.

I've rand T1R on the track and they're pretty good like you said. I can't believe how well they perform on heavy 19s. Much better than the PS2 on my OEM 18s. I also did some AutoX with them and they didn't perform well. So I don't suggest the T1R for AutoX at all.

For the money, I'd go with T1R and be comfortable on both street and tracks. RT615 is good in overall, but like I said, they're a little heavy and sucks in rain. But they're still good tires.
