after quick research, the ban is at the console level, not hdd. That makes sense since non-offending SN's were toasted too.
if you were to strap on the existing HDD onto the Arcade ... I'm not sure if the DLC purchases are console specific either.

I was reading the H3 forums, looking for this topic. Looks like some other kids were banned for quitting out of 15 games in-a-row.
They were playing the Mythic playlist and would drop of the game wasn't Griftball. Bungie detected the incomplete games and tossed the team of 4.
