holy shit, congrats man!

celebrate with a new 360. : )

I wonder if the ban is on the combination of the HDD + console, or the HDD only. That would be a pile of horseshit if ...

buy arcade
pop on existing hdd
no worky

or

buy premium
have to repurchase xbl accounts and dlc

Thanks man.

Yeah, I wonder what would happen if I recovered that gamertag to a new machine?
No ban?

Hm...

after quick research, the ban is at the console level, not hdd. That makes sense since non-offending SN's were toasted too.

if you were to strap on the existing HDD onto the Arcade ... I'm not sure if the DLC purchases are console specific either.

If you are checking this page because of an in-game message from Halo 3, it is likely that you have been banned from Halo 3’s Matchmaking system for violating the terms of use and/or committing a code of conduct violation. It is also possible in the case of an especially egregious violation, that your Xbox 360 system itself is now banned from Matchmaking. The duration of this ban will be based on the type, frequency or nature of the committed violation.
In most cases, Custom Games will still be available. For extreme cases, they will not.

Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:
  • Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players.
  • Modifying your Xbox 360 hardware or Halo 3 software in any way.
  • Skill or XP Boosting, deleveling, cheating or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
  • Impersonating a Bungie employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.
The following things will not result in a visit from the banhammer:
  • Lag (poor or intermittent network performance).
  • Occasional disconnects due to inconsistent network conditions.
  • Playing with the same group of friends over and over using the party system as long as this is not for the purpose of boosting.
  • Losing games over and over again as long as this is not for the purpose of boosting.
  • Winning games over and over again as long as this is not for the purpose of boosting.
  • Being polite, courteous and refraining from hate-speech and racial slurs.

I'm sure you Gamer Tag didn't benefit you, lol.

I was reading the H3 forums, looking for this topic. Looks like some other kids were banned for quitting out of 15 games in-a-row.

They were playing the Mythic playlist and would drop of the game wasn't Griftball. Bungie detected the incomplete games and tossed the team of 4.
