Default programming the garage door opener

in a 03 TL. Anything special I need to do?

I have my mom hold the button in the TL, then I hold the button on the garage door opener. My mom says the light flashes, then we both let the buttons go.
Nothing happens though, no manuals to look at

hold the Tl's button down until it blinks slowly... then push the garage door's.

when it has the code... the light will flash quickly.

I know that my father-in-law's in his lincoln ls can't match his garage opener b/c of some dynamically generated code for security. Maybe its the same kind of thing?

homelink can handle dynamically or also called rotating code garage door openers. i have one of those at home.

i also followed the homelink instructions but didn't work, i then looked at the garage door opener and the instructions were completely different. i followed the instructions on the garage door opener and it worked the first time.

jfyi... depending on the age of the homelink transmitter.. it may or may not handle rolling code technology. most newer vehicles including the tl are capable though
