Default Went to shooting range today

Well friend and I decided we would go down to the range and fire a few rounds. I personaly havent fired a pistol in almost 5 years, and even then it was only one 10rd magazine. Anyways, we were firing a glock 17 9mm from about 40 feet. First few shots were kinda loose, but once i got used to the feel of the gun and figured out how to site properly I managed to do quite well, here is a pic of the target i was using.

This is kinda addicting, im thinking i wouldnt mind looking into getting my own pistol, and i was curius as to what you gun gurus believe would be my best bet. It would be used almost entirly for the range at this point as i have no real need to carry. Ive always liked the spring field XDs but if there something comperable to that and is cheaper im down for it, not that im not willing to spend some money for a decent pistol but if its just a range gun i dont need alot of bells and wistles. Any help or comments would be apreciated

XDs, Glocks, Rugers....all popular and good choices in your price range. Just pick your caliber and see which one fits and feels best when shooting.

No.

10rd. Hi-cap (more than 10) can still be used if they were in your possession before the "assault weapons ban." Any "new" hi-cap mags that were acquired after the ban is illegal.

Get whatever feels best in your hand. Personally I'm not a fan of poly guns. The only one I really like is the walther p99. Here's a list of my pistol preferences to give a few ideas.

1911>Hi Power>P99>92F/PT92>XD>Glock>steaming pile of poo>ruger p90>taurus millenium

bear in mind those are just my preferences on how they feel and shoot, everyone is different

I went with david on saturday and had a few good shots but nothing worth posting. Then I went today with my dad using the same gun and pulled this off, same distance as davids and same gun. Im proud of myself.
