I was the audio guy at logitech for about 4months before i was promoted.
No real budget, they just have some on hand and I am getting them at cost (under $100).

I got mine for $225 at mwave 1.5 years ago. They sound good but the popping issue sucks. I've thought about RMA'ing the speakers but I don't want to be without speakers for 2 weeks or months or however long the turnaround time is.

The sub is i believe a 6.5" driver, if you upgrade to the z5500 the sub is a 10" driver.
Wires too short, and the wires on the 5300 are not speaker wires (they are hardwired to the satellite) so you can't extend them with your own wires.

Since they are still THX certified though you are getting a good product. Just won't pack as much punch as the 5500.

My gf has the 5500's and a friend has the 5300's and I can definitely feel the difference. I own the Z-560's and imo they sound better than the 5300s.

really? if that's the case I might do it. I thought I had to at least send in the control pod and the remote.

schwa, the thx cert is for multimedia, not the same as thx cert for home audio systems.

I hooked these up last night and they sounded pretty bad ass. Definitely an upgrade over the 2.1's I had especially at the price I paid.

What sound cards are you guys running? I'm thinking about swapping out my Audigy (sp?) SE.
