over the air HD
It amazes me that more people don't know that you can't get HD over the air for free and also in 5.1 surround sound. I've been telling people about my new setup, and they are confussed when I tell them I get free HD with my HD antenna. They quiz me and think they'll find out that I've got cable or the dish.
Anyone else do the over the air HD? Minus Discovery and ESPN(and other sports stuff) I can't justify the extra expense of cable or the dish cause its stuff I'd never watch. Netflix ftmfw!

HD over the air checking in. Actually by 2008 all local channels will only be broadcast in HD and require you to have an HD antenna. If you don't have an HD TV then the box will downgrade the signal to 480i.

after my TV did a scan, all the channels in my area are in HD, there are a few that are 480i but they are at least digital.

yeah but if your TV wasn't HD capable it would still pick up your local channels as non-HD channels. There is some new broadcasting bill that in the near future you will be required to own a special HD antenna with box to receive and view any local channels over the air. They want there piece of the pie as well I guess.
