This fawking sucks
The hotel I work at along with every other hotel in the city is sold out...and we're overbooked by 1 room. I'm not sure who let that by but it really sucks. I heard that some of the hotels in the city are overbooked by 10 or 11 rooms. :noes:

No, there's about 5 events going on. Some huge religious conference, a golf tournament, junior national swimming championships, fine arts festival, and the state fair. It's like an extra 30,000 people in town this week. :run:

About 30 minutes from downtown our hotels are full, so yeah. I try to avoid anywhere around downtown that weekend.
The Ironman goes through my city(about 1/3 of a mile from me) that gets crazy too..

That's not unusual at all. When I was in the industry we typically overbooked by by 10% of all rooms. All of the hotels that I worked in were over 225 rooms, so on a night when we were sold out we would have 23-35 rooms over capacity.
I was in the business for 20 years, 15 as a Chief Engineer or Director of Maintenance and Facilities Engineering.

snitches get stitches
Aside from the Portland Marathon, nothing comes to mind. Most full city marathons draw national contenders, but its nothing compared to the Boston Marathon or anything.

Spokane has Bloomsday, which attracts many runners from all over the world(The past few years runners from Kenya have won it, I think). Its a public race so anyone can join.
