Ask them to lay you off :rofl:



If a company lays you off and you apply for unemployment, the company has to pay a portion of that. That is why the unemployment office contacts your previous employer to verify that you were in fact laid off.

Uh, no. If you're fired, you're not necessarily going to collect benefits, as unemployment rules state that you can only collect if you're unemployed through no fault of your own.


Laid off = not your fault
fired = your fault

doesn't it depend on the state? Also the company bears the burden of proof that it was in fact you're fault and not some other reason correct?

Yeah, but who do you think the unemployment office will believe? The company saying you were a shitty employee or the employee saying he got screwed?

In CA it's the same way and it isn't that difficult for the company to prove. Most companies will keep records or performances/complaints/reviews, etc.
