$199 Asus Notebook
XP? It won't run well on it. Not fast enough.
What I'll do is, get 2 1 gb sticks of ram to speed it up a bit. Have the OS and some on the flash hard drive. Get a 2.5" notebook hard drive, stick it in an external case(With no external power). Toss it in the car, or where ever.

you're loco kid, it's a 900MHz computer. XP will run fine, maybe the visuals will have a problem, and it'd probably like linux or Win9x better, but it will surely run fast enough, esp with 512 megs of ram

Only 500,000 going to be released first.. And they're releasing the 349 model first.
That sucks for me. I want to get the 199 one.

Asus has announced it intends to begin shipping the ultra low-cost EEE PC in September. According to Asus, the E's in the title stand for "Easy to learn", "Excellent Internet", and "Excellent mobile computing experience." Asus reportedly plans to ship up to 500,000 of these systems in 2007, and up to 3-5 million in 2008.
As Digitimes reports, the EEE PC will be available at multiple price points, from $199 - $369, with the $349 model targeting the US mainstream. Overall specifications on the EEE are as follows:

That sucks for me. I want to get the 199 one.

Everything has changed unfortunately. Its still a cheap laptop, but no longer worth it, IMO. People will be lucky to get one if they aren't on the preorder.
I'm going to start looking around for a full laptop that is smaller. I need something to take to class with me and on my trip.
