Default Running Crew v.Shin Splints

So I started running last week. I've run 3 times since then, and after each time I run my lower left leg (shin area) gets more sore, like a bone bruise. I'm not sure if this is shin splints, but I'm guessing so. I figured that it would go away with time as I got used to running. Is it odd that it's only in one leg? Should I do something else for cardio, or just let it rest a few days and run some more?

Shin splints dont go away unless you

- Change shoes
- Posture
- Get inserts
- Change stride

You can always bike

It doesn't bother me that much when I run...just after I'm done, and the day after, etc. o:

I felt my shins hurting this morning while I was running. I gotta go to the doc cause my chest hurts. I went to a park last weekend and went on this ride, UFO/Ship that spins with G forces. Anyway when I got out I felt my right chest hurt, hope its not my heart.

Biking > running

Much more fluid movement, isn't brutal on the knees like running.

I guess I should look at a mountain bike. My brother was using my old rockhopper at school, and it got stolen ftl. My dad has 2 road bikes, but its not my style.
