pics of the new bike rack as promised.. v.56kgoaway
we spent this past weekend up in NH and brought our bikes. 3.5-4 hours each way, i'd say the racks are thoroughly tested and i'm very pleased. here are some pics:

so, if you're looking for a good strong fork-mount rack, that will mount to your factory crossbars, i recommend rockymounts. not only do they work, imo they look good, and the quality is awesome.
these also ended up being much cheaper than going with thule or yakima.
these cost me just about $200 even for the two bike racks, a disk brake adapter, and a pair of locks for the fork-mounts. depending on your crossbars, longer mounting bolts may be required.
anyway, good shit.

it's the future wife's car. i never felt like investing in a rack that wouldn't fit quite right on the teg, so we use hers for ski trips and now biking trips. this thing is better in the snow anyway.
it's to give enough clearance to the brake caliper. otherwise the caliper hits the tray and doesn't let the fork seat into place.
the disc is attached directly to the rim. the caliper is mounted to the fork.

For some reason when I read this, I read it as "wife's future car" instead of "future wife's"....I was like
I just got a bike rack...might possibly fit on the teg b/c of my wing, BUT I'll probably put it on the bf's car anyway....
I'm now in seek of a bike rack for the garage that holds 2. I'm looking at something of this type:
