Default effin health insurance

:madr:

I'm currently covered under my dad's health insurance since I'm a full-time student. Typically, insurance companies will cover dependents of the policy-holder if they are under the age of 23 and a full-time student.

My dad received a letter from his insurance company (he works for the government) on Saturday and the letter stated that I will be dropped from his policy on July 14th, my 22nd birthday. I guess insurance for federal employees only covers full-time students/dependents to the age of 22.

At my job, I am only permitted to work 30 hours a week. The reason for this is because if I work 32+, I am eligible for health insurance and as our HR director has stated to me, "It would cost the company too much".

So basically, I have no insurance and I need it. I've lived with my boyfriend for a few years and I could be added to his policy as a "domestic partner" :lmao: but they can't make changes until February.

Cliffs: My dad's insurance is dropping me even though I'm a full-time student and under 23 and I can't get insurance through work. COBRA is not an option because it would cost WAY too much. (~$250/month)

I knew someone would say Canada :lmao:

I really wish I could have stayed on for one more year - it would have created NO problems.

I'm not sure why the federal insurance companies want to screw students over.

I don't want to do that because I have at least one prescription I need filled monthly AND with my luck, the day after my insurance expires, I'll break my arm or something...

Word on that. A week after mine was over I was hit in the head with a horseshoe and needed 7 staples.

Looks like Aetna has something that would be between $55-80 a month with a $2500-$5000 deductible and $30-40 office visits...hmmm. Not that bad, I guess.
