Default Computer people.....HELP!!!

My dad has a HP desktop a804n. It worked perfect, he shut it off then the next day went to turn it on and nothing happens.

The monitor screen stays blank (the monitor lights up blue when it's on but now it's just amber/orange). I see no lights on the keyboard and i assume the mouse doesn't work either.

The fans turn on, the cd trays open/close but nothing else. And the power light on the tower just stays a solid amber/orange.

What could be the problem???

Try unplugging for a few minutes? Might have a loose connector, faulty MOBO, or possibly even power supply. If its an HP, it probably has a warranty.

We used to have a computer that when it went on standby or hibernation it was impossible to turn it back on, unless we unplugged it.

Hold the power button for a while, like 30-60 seconds. See if anything changes. If not, turn the power off then back on the the PSU and see if anything changes.

Typical symptom of a dead mobo or power supply.

If it was a dead PSU, then chances are he wouldn't get power to anything...

not true, there are a couple different power systems, +12 +3 ect... the problem may be only one have gone out...

I would use a power supply from another computer to test it. If that failes, check the MoBo.
