So my friend who is scheduled to bring the MR2 down here this weekend called to tell me that my alternator just burned out and that there are no aftermarkets available unless special ordered.

So, having already paid for his airline ticket and already paid for the hotel reservation for the weekend...I'm out about $400 and no car

I can probably get the money back on the hotel since check-in isn't until 5pm Saturday, but the airline ticket may be another story (purchased both through cheaptickets.com).

You can rebuild an alternator, it's fairly easy. Maybe he could find a shop thats willing to do it if he isn't good with cars. Sorry to hear
