logitech harmony remote
I've gotten this thing to work with ALL my devices but, on the initial power up stage it doesnt turn on my cable box / DVR .
I have to use the help function and that does power it on but for the life of me i cant retain that setting. It seems that everytime i power on the devices I have to go through that help option to power on my DVR.
The alternative is that I leave my box on which is fine but I would like to keep it off when not in use.
anyone experienced this problem if they have one of these remotes?

I have a somewhat similar issue with my Harmony 628, but I think it's more my Comcast/Motorola DVR's fault. When I shut everything off, the DVR sometimes just decides to refuse that command and stays on. Then when I go to turn everything back on, the DVR decides to turn off. This totally screws with the Harmony, and unfortunately makes it almost worthless since it's a hassle to individually turn on the components. I blame comcast.
For me, it's just that the DVR doesn't always respond to the commands, even from the DVR remote. Sometimes it just decides to do it's own thing and ignore the command, even when I see the "command acceptance" light blink on the front of the DVR. Sometimes, it won't respond to commands, but will somehow queue them all up and then execute 10-20 commands all in 1 second. It's just a shitty DVR.
i have the 550.....i think its version 7.0.
I've tried using the remote learning feature and can only configure the power on option using the IR. If I try to setup the power off between both remotes the communication between the two doesnt stay on long enough for me to let it complete.
I guess ill leave the cable box on. =(

Just call Harmony support. They have full access to the back end of the system, and they're damn good at making stuff work. Tier I is limited in what they can do, but if they can't solve it, it will get escalated to Tier II, and they're DAMN good
