what liberal media? v.bringiton

it's been a while since i've let my conservative side rant, so here you go..
MSNBC.com identified 144 journalists who made political contributions from 2004 through the start of the 2008 campaign, according to the public records of the Federal Election Commission. Most of the newsroom checkbooks leaned to the left: 125 journalists gave to Democrats and liberal causes. Only 17 gave to Republicans. Two gave to both parties.
Journalism is an inherently liberal career. It requires creative thinking and an inherent belief in the free exchange of information whether or not the powers that be would like for that information available to be accessible to the public.
I hate to say it but for the most part this media bias nonsense is most applicable to the cable news networks (be they CNN, Fox or whatever) aiming at the lowest common denominator.
I get my "real reporting" from The Washington Post. It's biased as well but at least it's above a 5th grade reading level. They're generally left-leaning on social issues, "worldly" on foreign policy, somewhat anti-war, pro civil liberties, and mostly for low taxes and free markets. Maybe growing up reading the Post shaped my views a bit.

If you want more from the economic conservative side there's The Wall Street Journal, and if you want the moral conservative stuff there's The Washington Times.
Pick yor poison, but stay away from cable news in all its forms.

They're at least, if not more accurate than the major news channels. I was in the other room last night when the news came on. I heard the reporter announce "Tonight we're going to meet the killer of a killer!". Thinking it was some hero that might have defended themselves from a known murderer or something of that nature I went to the TV to hear the story. Turns out the "killer" they were speaking of was a black bear that ripped through a kids tent and slashed the kid. So the bear is a killer? Guess that makes sharks, tigers, a large swarm of bees and the occasional stingray a killer then too huh? The news is so filled with hype and BS, I rarely watch it anymore. :airon:
