Default Online degree programs?

What are your thoughts on online programs through actual state universities? I'm not talking about strictly online schools, but ones that are actually part of the school, like Cal State Northridge has a few programs and so does Florida State University.

btw, I am wanting to finish my degree in English, preferably with an emphasis in Writing or Literature. I have been thinking about trying to move into a sales position again, but with FedEx

I've never heard of a 4 year university having programs that are entirely online. I would assume that you have to show up for certain things...but who knows. As long as it's not classified as an online degree, but just a degree...should be fine from an accredited 4 year university.

yea, Florida State University has a Business Administration program, which is offered entirely online.

Maybe I'll just be like Craiggers and go to state at night

One thing, though... I am going to get my tesl cert and see what opportunities are out there for me for teaching abroad if I don't have any luck with a sales position (nothing available in my area yet). I know there's a few programs that don't require you to have a four year degree. I still want to be able to get classes done while abroad, though.

It hasn't been until recently that universities started offering (comprehensive) online programs.

This one really confuses me:

I'm not sure how one would do it completely online.

That confoozles me too.. How do you do labwork? Without labs I can't imagine how well prepared you'd be for much of anything.

I can speak with some authority on the CSUN program... and frankly, you owe it to yourself to be on campus. The online classes are the lowest priority in terms of funding and development for our department. The sentiment is that because you lose out on the face-to-face experience and on being in a newsroom environment, the online students are a lower priority.

I know it would be a hassle to move up here, but the professors here are worth it IMO.

Also, what grade level are you interested in teaching?

if I attend a state college, I'll be doing so here

abroad, don't care. Having second thoughts about wanting to go into teaching here. If I do, it would be at the jr college level.

As long as the school is accredited I think it's a-ok. Otherwise, those online degree's is bullshit in my opinion.

I still think you're missing out on certain aspects of school if you take everything online.
