Default "Mom and Dad"

When you're telling someone a story about your parents, do you say ...

A.) "My mom and dad were........" (or "My parents were........")

OR

B.) "Mom and Dad were......"

This girl at my work always chooses option B and for some reason it drives me insane....its not like they're OUR mom & dad too, so I guess thats why it bothers me :dunno: I'm kinda pissy today...don't want to be at work because I leave for vacay tonight and I haven't started to pack yet. :madr:

Option B is very strange. She omitted a 2 letter word ... why?

My parents have been divorced for close to 15 years so I don't really reference them at the same time.

Yea, I don't get it...she makes me mad.

She used to sit far away from me...but now, she's close so I always hear her talking and for some reason, her voice and laugh annoys me. She has this southern accent that comes out when she's mad...but it sounds fake. :hsdunno:

+1...exactly. My parents were divorced about 16 years ago. But hypothetically, if you were telling a story, would you say "Mom was at the store..." or "My mom was at the store". Or "Dad...."/"My Dad..."

(When talking to co-workers)
