Default who the hell buys life insurance for their kids?

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/06/08/ins....ap/index.html

seriously is it that common to buy life insurance for kids? I have it so if I bite it early my wife won't have to sell the house and will have a couple years to figure shit out. but having it for your kids is like saying "at least if something happens to them I'll get some cash out of the deal"

the cost of funerals is so outrageous anymore that that alone is reason enough.

but also think of this, for the first 10-12 years of your kids life they spend alot of time with you. if something happens to you and your child is with you, now your wife has to cover 2 funerals, and is on her own with other children possibly....all the money you could possibly leave her to get by the better

I have life insurance for myself, my wife and our son. Reasons being, as said, funerals are expensive. Also, It was very inexpensive through work for my son (only a few bucks a month). For myself, I have quite a bit of insurance to take care of my family if i pass since I'm the only source of income. I think in total, i have around 750k for myself. Plus, my work pays my salary for quite a few years to my wife if i die.

I pay like .15 a week for life insurance on my son and wife, $10k policy. Just enough for a proper burialh: Hopefully I never need it. As well I have double salary insurance, besides the standard salary my wife would get if I died.

Isn't it depressing setting all that stuff up? Worst feeling ever is deciding how much your life is worth and gambling on when you're gonna die.

Yeah, adding a little insurance on your kids through your own policy is dirt cheap. I think my wife and I pay about $35 for both of us and two kids, it would be a couple bucks cheaper without the kids so we figured we might as well put em on.
