Default possibly a router incompatibility problem??

my sister has an ibook, but for some reasons, it doesn't want to detect the router we have at home (dlink i think). Is it an incompatibility problem? or is there something on the ibook I can check for problems? (I'm thinking it's not the ibook though, since she has some signal from her neighbor when she goes back to her apartment)

make sure the router and the wireless card are either B or G

check the router config for SSID broadcasting and make sure its enabled.

the laptop looks fine. they both should be compatible

its most likely router config issue.

I'm sharing that router with 4-5 different laptops/desktops no problems though.

anyone familiar with how to setup the ibook? I'm clueless when it comes to mac. With the sony vaio that I'm on now, it can detect 3 different wireless sources (mine and 2 of my neighbors), the ibook detects 0.

Do what Jani keeps saying and go into the router settings and make sure the SSID is being broadcasted.

if the iBook detects 0... then its an iBook issue.

return it and get a PC.
