Default sometimes i really love my job

just had a student come in and need help with her math 111 activity
she was modeling exponential equations and found one online she wanted to use
the equation was f(x)=100(1+0.12)^x

she wasnt sure what the 1+0.12 was, since it wasnt quite like ones she had see before

all i had to do was add them together and get 1.12 and it clicked for her, the 1 was for 100% and the 0.12 was for the 12% increase

watching and helping someone learn kicks ass

too bad i have to quit soon, 9 hrs/wk for the summer isnt exactly worth the 30 minute one way drive to work

what the hell kind of job am i going to find that is this much fun
damn college degrees cant get me shit for work it seems

who else is having a good day at work?

I always have a good day at work, but at the same time, I also have a bad day

30 minute commute isn't bad

as her tutor, you have every right to "discuss this problem over a few drinks" back at your place.

9 hours of work a week, broken into 3 days of 3 hours
80 miles a day total driving, so 240 miles a week driving

say 30 mpg, that gives me 8 gallons of gas used
say 3.50 a gallon, and thats $28 a week in gas

pay of $12/hr, so $108 a week, subtract $28 and that gives me $80 a week

$80 a week for working 3 days in the evening is bullshit
i could pimp myself out to fat chicks and make more than that in a night
shit i could pick up cans in a college town and make more than that in a day

im hoping for a full time position starting in the fall, but i cant count on it, so its time for a new job
what the hell can i do with a math degree and a philosophy degree, and dont say teach

i have an exchange student from rome in my class now, he is a badass, getting like a 98%

also apparantly his friend is studying math or some science at a university there and they dont use calculators for anything, no graphing, no multiplying, absolutely nothing
that blows my mind, i cant do shit without a calc anymore

he hasnt even read "the republic"
