Default sometimes i speak before i think and a question

last night i got a call from a frantic customer. his computer kept shutting down and he needed it fixed asap because he had some things he had to print asap.

anyway, i go out, powersupply is overheating so i took it out and took the cover off and told him i'd be back tomorrow to replace it since office depot was closed.

he goes thats no problem and if you charge extra for late callout let me know.

instinctively, i said i don't. i should have.

what do you guys think is fair for after hours emergency callout support?

I currently charge $45/hr with a 1 hour minimum. I was thinking anything last minute after 8pm would be $100/hr. Is that fair? Excessive? Some places around here charge up to 100/hr normally but I want to make the charge fair based on my standard charge.

Also been considering upping the standard charge to $60/hr

i would say either 1.5 or 2 times your standard rate.

What would be the point of charging only $5/more per hour?

I already implement a minimum 1 hour charge.
