Fact: DA letters requesting reduction work
Even if you miss your court date. 
Just got a letter back from St. Charles parish. I missed court by about a month and sent them the same letter I always send but edited it slightly.
I just got a response saying it's been reduced to a non-moving violation with a $200 fine.

This letter is being written as a request for your assistance with a traffic violation ( 8713879 ) that I received on March 14, 2007 I have contacted the St. Charles Parish Sheriffs Office and have been informed of the fine involved. Unfortunately, I misplaced the ticket before having a chance to write and recently found that I missed the court appearance date. I sincerely apologize and would like to make amends however necessary. I certainly am willing to pay the fine and whatever court costs are necessary but I request that my violation be reduced to a Non-Moving Violation. Payment will be gratefully made upon confirmation that my request has been granted. Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated.
