anyone own a punching bag??
so i sorta tweaked my ankle a little and my knee has been feeling funky lately so i wanna still do some cardio but want to keep off running for a bit now. so this weekend i bought a 80lb punching bag on sale at sports authority. i know the size is a little big for me (5' 9" 163lbs) but my roommates are both 6' and around 200ish. anyways we are trying to find a way to hang it somewhere in our spare garage. has anyone done this before or should we look into getting a stand. in the garage i know we can find a stud in the ceiling, but we cant wrap a chain around it. it would have to be screwed into the beam directly which i am worried about tearing off or not supporting it properly. thanks in advance mofos!

i like the stand up ones because you can continually beat them in the head with a baseball bat while it lies on the floor after you roundhouse kick it in the face.

Get a stand...trust me it is worth it in the long run.
I had one I hanged from the rafters and when we woould really work it and get it swinging the entire garage would sway at times. Buying a stand eliminates any chance you may have of fucking up the structure unless you are putting in a steel I beam to hang it from.

Agreed,
before I ripped my 100 pound bag, I had it on a stand, you'll get to a certain point where you are working it and don't realize how badly it's swinging around.

mine's just screwed into a beam at a crossing of like 4 beams. Used a huge steel hook, and its been good since, right by the wall too so it doesn't swing much, just knock it against the wall all the time h:
