so i work for a local community college
i was supposed to work 12-4 this afternoon in the learning center at the math help desk answering math questions
my gf also works there, but full time, so she has been there since 7:30 this morning

so i just got a call an hour ago that the school is on lockdown mode, no other info provided
apparantly SWAT and fire trucks/police are all over the campus trying to deal with something

nobody knows what the hell is going on, bomb threat, gun sighting, who knows

my gf called and only had a minute to talk, just long enough to scare the shit out of me

i doubt anything major will happen, its a small school, and SWAT and everyone are already there to deal with the situation, but its still a bit stressful

so no work for me today, but i think i would rather be going to work as usual than dealing with this shit

 

Im getting tired of this shit. If they dont start punishing harder on these hoaxes, we're going to run this into the ground. You can only cry wolf so many times.

I'm with craig. I was sick of this crap 2 hours into the media hype of VTech. I think it is sad what happened, but there was too much media, and now people are afraid of anything and know that people jump at the thought.

I mean hell...I remember in the good ol days where if you were doing something...say shooting lizards in your backyard with a BB gun and someone saw you doing it they would come see what you are doing and maybe join...now they call the cops on your in a heart beat.

gf is out and safe, on her way home thank god

apparantly a male wearing a light trenchcoat carrying a gun of some kind was seen on campus
he then got onto the roof of one of the buildings, happened to be the daycare/preschool center
school went into lockdown for about an hour and a half
then SWAT started searching buildings one by one
students were escorted off by SWAT in small groups and then allowed to leave
i dont know if the guy is in custody, or anything else really, but it sounds like defanitely a gun on the roof

im just glad no shots were fired and everything is ok
the gf is still a little freaked out, she isnt exactly used to being ushered out of the school with guys with automatic weapons

guess i will be watching the news tonight to see what happened once they release details

 

i thought it was cool when the swat team showed up to our parking lot at the vw show in nj.

they kept things in order all night to say the least

 

glad everything turned out for the better.
