Oft-muttered rumors of a new PSP are once again in circulation. Sony is, according to industry tittle tattle, definitely working up a smaller lighter version of its handheld. Questions such as 'when' and 'what will they do about storage' aren't finding answers right now though the company is sticking with UMD. Don't say you're surprised. This is Sony, after all.

Well, UMD as a game format is actually brilliant, in terms of using optical discs in a game player. I also doubt they'd ditch UMD, as that would be stupid (Being backwards compatable was a major factor of what made the GBA and DS sell so well). The only thing that prevented it as a movie media format was the outrageous price for movies... If movies were $7-12 new (Instead of $20-30 new), I think the format would have fared very well.
That being said, I play my PSP regularly (MGS: Portable Ops owns), and unless I break mine, I don't think I'll update h:
gundam seed rengou vs zaft is the best psp game ever
and lumines is one of my favorite games
I don't have the seed game, but I have Lumines. Hot shots portable, Wipeout, Field commander, Loco Roco, Katamari, and race driver 2006 are all great. I also can't wait for the 2.5D remake of Castlevania Dracula X that comes with a complete version of Symphony of the Night on the UMD, Disgaea Portable, Silent Hill origins, and alien syndrome
I sold my psp to lack of great games. I'm playing with the DS much more than the psp though. I think good titles are what the machine lacking, not size or media format.
