Honda s2k maybe?
i CAN handle the evo (even though i have shit loads to learn a la track time), but when u stretch its legs on the street, you're really setting yourself up for trouble, which is why i brought up the point of the unrewarding nature of driving the car on the street. whats the point in owning a freagn evo if u cant stretch its legs all the time.
it has more to do with being mature and responsible than actual driver skill and "car controlling the driver" kind of shit.
yep, but do u at least understand the points i made?

although I've never driven the evo myself, I can't see/picture myself driving it. In socal, it's a cop's magnet. The s2k isn't much classier or anything, but at least you won't gain that sort of attention. I'm considering the s2k myself. But, if money permits (more like I don't want high payments), I'd go for the new 3 coupe instead.
btw, honda dealers aren't exactly what I call pleasant, imo of course.

Reasons (not really in order) to leave evo and go to s2k:
1 evo is too racy to just drive around town. it really doesnt let u drive it slow.
Too racy? well I already addressed that you need to learn to control your car instead of the other way around
see above response
2 even though mine has ran like a champ, theres that overlooming possibility of a transfer case/front diff failure or some other sort (13k miles of KNOWN history of the car - the car has around 30k miles on it)
So you are admitting the Evo has inherent flaws and does crap out for known issues?
contrary to HAN belief, i never said my car was perfect
3 my driver abilities arent a match for the car at its limits (aka i'm too scared to push it)
Join an autox group and learn to drive your car
i missed april's run, and will probably miss may's run for autocrossing due to prior engagments
4 not exactly a rewarding drive, since you're worried about being arrested
WTF???
see above post again
5 mitsu dealer service
Duh thats a no brainer, but then again a dealership is a dealership regardless of brand
well you're right, but its god awful, especially when it comes to warranty work
6 parts wear much quicker aka clutch/brake pads etc
That is because of abuse of the vehicle not the make of the vehicle
not really abuse always, there are numerous parking lot *** queen evo's that have pads/clutches go out just from street driving
7 driving the s2k just around town is very rewarding, no fear of arrest
Again WTF are you babbling about??
u drive around town in a s2k, get to your destination and go - "wow that was fun"
u drive evo around town and get out and go "damn i really need to track this car more often. i'm glad i didnt get a ticket"
8 the shift feel/naturally aspirated nature of the car is unparalled
this is completely confusing
awd trans / turbo = not a prime example of shift smoothness/engine response
s2k engine response/shift feel = teh awesome
9 VTAK
/bandwagon
i was kidding
10 honda dealer service is much more pleasant
Already addressed, they just rob you in a way you like is all
11 parts/accesories are much cheaper for s2k
Say what?? not really
for some reason i was just thinking about brake parts. but other parts, i guess i'm wrong
12 easy as hell to work on s2k...evo isnt rocket science though
Easier in what way?
parts accessibility, better assembly quality, more space to work with
13 resale value is higher for s2k
Well this is kind of a given since you have the long term reliabilty of Honda behind the vehicle, but you also limit your buyers market due to only 2 seater
dot
14 i'll be able to flog the s2k 110% all day at a track event and not worry about a damn thing
heh...ok you keep thinking that when you go to replace the gears in your rear diff
will keep in mind
15 while durable, flogging the evo all day leaves u with funny smells and sounds
It's because you are abusing a vehicle...they tend to do that especially if you don't maintain them properly
yeah even with proper maintenance, they'll still smell.
Reasons to keep evo over s2k:
1- space - i'm a big guy. big and tall. i can barely fit in the passenger side, but driver side wasnt so terrible.
2- cup holders/glove box/etc etc
3-less power/torque
4-blind spots are teh suxor in s2k
5-evo = more stable in inclement weather
6-less road noise
7-much more mod friendly

unless im stuck in traffic, i cant drive the s2k slow. its too boring otherwise. i redline it at least twice a day.... and thats because at the least, i drive twice a day... 1.on the way to work...2.on the way home from work.
i only drive with the top up if its too hot, too cold, its raining, or i have to drive for over 30min on a freeway. otherwise, the top goes down.
as far as the Evo being scary to drive hard around the streets, the s2k isnt any "less" in my opinion either. not that these two cars are "street monsters", but given their relatively quick acceleration and confidence boosting handling, it makes it that much easier for a person to mess up compared to driving another car hard, like a civic or integra.
i guess it depends on where you live, but i get stared at by cops all the time and sometimes followed. but i have yet to get a ticket since i dont do anything stupid in front of them and my car is basically stock. but the car is still pretty loud when you get on the throttle.
i <3 my s2k
if you really are in the market to buy an s2k, seriously consider my friend's 2005 S2K. MINT condition.
